We left Ludington in the sun…no wind and no seas…nice
motor! Wind was supposed to switch
to the West…but like much of our trip so far…weather gurus don’t know
crap!! Later...cloudy and wind on
the nose but light enough not to be an issue. It was COLD though so we huddled for warmth under the
hardtop enclosure.
We went on a wild goose chase for diesel to the Wharf Marina
and then multiple docking maneuvers at the Municipal Dock, God Rock Concert
(Loud and Proud next to the marina) and we were ready to leave. Good thing we didn’t!! After a nice Burger dinner we struck up
a conversation with Bob and Ann on the 50+ ft Chris Craft next to us and later
we were invited to watch the Music Fountain display. The video doesn’t do it justice but what a cool event!! We talk to a guy on the dock who said
his grandfather helped install the fountain in the ‘60s. It runs every night…and is probably the
best reason for us to stay another day.
We explored the quaint downtown with bunches of little
shops. It’s great to see a town
that has revitalized turning old into new but keeping the old town flavor.
There was a bunch of street “Dog Art.” After buying a loaf and some cookies at
“Great Harvest” bread store (thanks Cindy) it was back to the boat! Tom and I fixed my wifi antenna (thanks
for tools Eric). Cindy and Chris
went for a walk…then Bill and Tom went to the Brewery!!
Sitting here now in the rain but looking forward to the
sunny forecast for tomorrow and ports South!! (Personally not to confidant given our experience…but I
remain optimistic!!) Late add: Just invited over to Ann & Bob's for Skipbo before the Music Fountain!!! So many distractions that delay blog'n.
Looks like an awesome trip so far guys! I would have loved to try the pineapple IPA. Hopefully wifi is working better after the cable repair.
